#2017makenine, or Let's Actually Finish Some Things This Year

Ok, so I may be a couple of months late to the party with this, but I really wanted to join in with the #2017makenine because it might encourage me to actually get on and finish some projects rather than getting stuck or distracted and then leaving them on my sewing table for several months.

I forbade myself to choose anything I don't already have the pattern for, as I really don't need an excuse to buy any more when I have so many that I haven't made yet.

Number one is Tilly & the Buttons lovely Lilou dress. I've made some of the other patterns from Love at First Stitch but Lilou is definitely my favourite. I've got some pretty pink floral fabric in my stash which I think would look lovely, or some navy blue polka dots...

Two is a 1970s Style pattern that I got from a flea market in a box of vintage patterns for £8. This one is a two-piece dress that reminds of Sew Over It's 1940s Tea Dress - I intend to make this as a one-piece dress, maybe in some pretty viscose.

Three is Sew Over It's Doris dress - I actually have this made up apart from the buttons and hem. It's in a lovely teal viscose and I will get round to finishing it... soon.

Four is Sew Over It's Heather dress - I finished my first Heather dress last weekend in some aubergine ponte. It's not a bad first attempt but I intend to make at least one more and improve upon the first one.

Five is Tilly & the Buttons Arielle skirt. I have had this pattern for a while and bought some navy spotted cotton drill to make it with, so hopefully including it on here will encourage me actually get around to sewing it!

Six is By Hand London's Elisalex dress. I love the bodice style of this dress although I'm not totally convinced the skirt style will suit me. I'm envisaging maybe a circle skirt instead...

Seven is Papercut Patterns La Sylphide dress. I think this will be a slightly more challenging project, with all of those buttonholes and the floaty nature of the dress. I have some light blue floral cotton voile which I bought to make this with, I just need to actually do it...

Eight is Sew Over It's Tulip skirt. I live in cute mini skirts so I can imagine several of these making their way into my wardrobe.

Finally, nine is another vintage Style pattern from the box of delights. I love the idea of making my own coat, and look at the full skirt and the hood on this one! I'm envisaging this in pretty light blue wool, and now that spring is creeping in I've got the rest of the year to pluck up the courage to actually do it. We'll see if this ever comes to fruition...
